As summer approaches, workout challenges are becoming widely popular across Youtube and various social media platforms. Some examples include Chloe Ting, Pamela Reif, Caroline Girvan, and growingannanas. Blogilates is also one of the many launching a summer program this year titled Hot Girl Summer Sculpt and we thought we’d reflect on her previous challenge from last year to give you an honest review.
Blogilates, aka Cassey Ho, is one of the founding fitness influencers marking her eleventh year as an instructor on Youtube later this year. Initially starting her channel to share content with her POP Pilates students, now she guides 5.32 million subscribers. Cassey’s energetic character, motivating words, and focus on body positivity makes her a unique fitness professional. With an extended quarantine, we decided to take advantage of extra time and try the Blogilates 28-Day Summer Sculpt Program.

Overview
The Blogilates 28-Day Summer Sculpt is a free training program including 40-minute workout videos for each day of the week. Every video focuses on a different muscle group, and thus the program ensures you are building strength in all parts of the body. Cassey provides 7 videos total, each with a warm-up, workout (10 exercises per set, 2x), and cool-down routine.
Monday - Total Body
Tuesday - Legs and Butt
Wednesday - Arms and Back
Thursday - Abs and Butt
Friday - Obliques and Thighs
Saturday - Stretch
Sunday - Cardio and Abs
Once you complete this weekly set 4 times, you’re done!

After experimenting with multiple fitness challenges, the Blogilates 28-Day Summer Sculpt Program introduced a new style of training. In place of completing several short videos per day, I particularly appreciated the “one video every day” pattern. It helped me to stay focused, efficient, and motivated. On another note, Cassey’s casual conversations on videos pleasantly distracted me from the intensity of the exercises. However, hearing the same conversations on the workout videos for multiple weeks got tiring and dull over time. Nevertheless, I was impressed at how engaging the Blogilates videos are.
For my experience with the workouts, I believe her videos were a good level of challenging, not too easy but not too difficult (with the exception of Tuesday’s legs and butt workout that left my legs trembling)! Although I prefer more cardio and core strengthening exercises, Cassey’s workouts served to be productive and helpful for strengthening my body as a whole. As a result, this program may be just right for you if you flourish with simplicity and extra motivation!

Before starting the program, I had pretty high expectations because I was an avid follower of Cassey years ago. I really enjoyed her bright personality, encouragement during the workout, and variation of exercises that incorporated pilates. However, this program was slightly different in that it focused on repeating the same exercises for 2 rounds per video, and extensively targeted strength training. While this style may be more suitable for those who are looking to build muscle or don’t enjoy jumps and running, I personally prefer a mixture of cardio and strength training to keep me interested and motivated. Consequently, I found the program to be a little boring and tiresome considering it was 4 weeks long, but already repeating within a single video.
I definitely see the potential of this 28-Day Summer Sculpt program, with a careful breakdown to strengthen different parts of the body every single day. Certain videos were inarguably more difficult than others, but the overall experience really improves your endurance and mental toughness. At the end of the day, exercise and fitness, in general, are so subjective, so if this sounds like something you might like, give it a try!
Review
While the program is a long-time commitment, by the end of the hard-worked 28 days you will feel beneficial changes in your body. All you have to accomplish is one video per day to build your entire body. Lastly, remember a fitness journey is not just about numbers. Enjoy the process of growing stronger and healthier!
